Stop

The first action is easy: just stop. Before engaging with a piece of information (reading, watching, etc.), pause to consider the context of the information:

  • What is the website?
  • Who is the author?
  • What is the source?
  • What do you know about them and their reputation?

You should also return to this stop action whenever you feel yourself getting overwhelmed by the other three (IFT) stages - stop to recenter yourself, and remember what your purpose and priorities are. This can keep you from spinning off into tangents and spending too much time.
